On this lovely Labor Day, I finally made my way to Sugar Daddy’s restaurant located locally in Newark, NJ. This place have been on my radar for a while to go eat and experience the atmosphere. It sits on the corner of a very popular street in the heart of the city and the aesthetic was dope. This restaurant had two level of dining but it was too hot and I was too lazy to climb the stairs so I sat on the lower level.
I have heard from many people that the grits here are a must try, and even though I don’t usually eat grits, I had to have them. I ordered Chicken and Waffles with a side of White Cheddar Grits. The grits were amazing, I literally scraped the bowl. The chicken and waffles were good as well, and you can tell that the wings were super crispy and fresh. I’m a little upset with myself because I had all the intentions in the world to take some of that banana pudding to go, but forgot.
The menu is very complex yet not overwhelming with too many options and there are a few more menu items I’ve got to go back to try. Overall it was a great experience and I am looking forward to returning. Everyone I encountered was warm and welcoming and that is important for me when deciding whether or not to return to a restaurant.
Totally Two Thumbs Up 👍🏽👍🏽
